Frequently Asked Questions

Does the app collect any of my data? Enamel does not collect personal information off your device. Its bundled content and preferences are stored locally; operating-system backups and transfers follow your Apple settings. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Do I need an account or internet connection? No. There is no sign-in. Enamel’s bundled procedure guides, comparison, saved items, recall planning, and in-app brushing timer work offline. Apple system features and external source links may require services or connectivity provided by Apple or the linked website.

Where are my saved items and reminders stored? In the local app container. Enamel has no developer-operated server or cloud sync; operating-system backups and transfers may include app data according to your Apple settings. In Procedures, open About Enamel to clear saved items or recent history. Cancel reminders and clear the last visit in Recall; reset the current timer in Brushing. Deleting the app on iPhone/iPad removes its container, while offloading retains it. Removing the Mac app bundle alone may leave its local Catalyst container. Older backups are managed separately.

The brushing timer isn't working. Open the Brushing tab, tap Start, and keep Sound on if you want audible quadrant cues while the app is active. Background and Lock Screen sound delivery is not guaranteed. On supported iPhone and iPad environments, Live Activities must be enabled in Settings for the timer to appear on the Lock Screen. Regular notification permission is not required for the brushing timer. Mac Catalyst provides the in-app timer without a Lock Screen Live Activity.

A dental visit reminder isn't alerting me. Make sure notifications are enabled for Enamel in Settings → Notifications → Enamel. Then reopen Enamel so it can reconcile a reminder that was saved while notifications were off.

How do I use Enamel with Siri? Try “Tell me about root canals in Enamel,” “Search Enamel for jaw pain,” “Start my Enamel brushing timer,” or “When is my dental reminder in Enamel.” Siri availability and supported phrasing can vary by device, language, region, and iOS version.

Is Enamel a substitute for professional dental advice? No. Enamel is for general educational purposes only. Always consult a licensed dentist or healthcare professional for diagnosis and treatment decisions specific to your situation.
